(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Organization of the Islamic Conference adopted a new title and logo, it was announced here on Tuesday.
The organization decided to change its title to Organization of the Islamic Cooperation during its current foreign ministerial meeting which opened in Tehran this morning.
The Organisation of the Islamic Conference changes its name to the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation.
The decision was made on Tuesday over the 38th session of the organisation's Council of foreign ministers, reported Russian news agency Itar-Tass.
"I declare the resolution to change the name and to have a new emblem of the organisation," Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister and Chairman of the organisation Erzhan Kazykhanov said.
The new name will become a symbol of modernisation, unanimity and competitiveness of the Ummah /Islamic community, he said.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi is scheduled to deliver a speech at the meeting this evening.
The Iranian minister is also to hold separate meetings with a number of his counterparts and officials on the sidelines of the meeting on bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
Over 140 delegations from 57 world countries and international organizations are taking part in the three-day event.
